The Animal Care Organization Installs Solar-Powered Anti-Poaching Camps at Rajasthan Tiger Reserve

Bundi: On the occasion of International Tiger Day, The Animal Care Organization (TACO), an initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, unveiled significant conservation infrastructure at the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan to enhance anti-poaching and wildlife protection efforts.

This intervention marks a major milestone in TACO’s ongoing mission to promote sustainable wildlife conservation in India.

As part of its initiative, TACO has built five double-storey, solar-powered anti-poaching camps, each spanning 762 sq. ft. These state-of-the-art facilities will enable round-the-clock forest surveillance and provide a critical infrastructure upgrade to forest rangers.

Additionally, the organization has equipped the forest department with dedicated surveillance vehicles, ensuring faster response and improved mobility across the reserve’s diverse and often difficult terrain.

Located in Bundi district, the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve covers over 1,500 sq. km across core and buffer areas and serves as a crucial corridor for tiger migration between Ranthambhore and Mukundra Tiger Reserves. This connectivity is essential for genetic diversity and the overall health of India’s tiger population.

“At The Animal Care Organization, conservation is more than a vision – it’s a responsibility. By supporting Ramgarh Vishdhari with advanced infrastructure, we are enabling 24×7 protection for one of India’s most vital tiger habitats,” said Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Anchor of TACO and Non-Executive Director at Vedanta Ltd.

Highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships, Shikha Mehra, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Government of Rajasthan, stated, “TACO’s support aligns with our strategy for sustainable wildlife management. Strengthening Ramgarh Vishdhari’s protection is critical for long-term species survival.”

This initiative is aligned with Rajasthan’s broader conservation agenda, including eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) development and potential tiger translocation programs. It also complements India’s flagship Project Tiger programme, under which Ramgarh Vishdhari was brought in 2022 as the 52nd tiger reserve in the country.

With India being home to over 70% of the world’s wild tigers, organizations like The Animal Care Organization are playing a key role in securing the future of this iconic species.

This latest intervention at Ramgarh Vishdhari adds to TACO’s conservation efforts across tiger-bearing landscapes, including Ranthambhore and Kaziranga, advancing their goal of holistic ecosystem restoration and animal welfare.
